Gold Prospectors Association of America ( Michigan Chapter)

The Gold Prospectors Association of America was founded in 1968. Its aims are to promote and preserve the heritage of the American Prospector. The club was created to make a large network of gold information available to its members. It also helps both professional and recreational prospectors to find more gold. Due to the progress of technology and the Internet, the GPAA has been able to create a larger network of chapters, making it the largest prospecting organization in the world. Through the use of metal detectors, its members have been able to find gold in various chapters. But in looking for gold, some would still want to use gold prospecting dry washers instead of metal detectors.

If you live in the Michigan area, the GPAA has two chapters--one in Curtis and another one in Grayling. The club offers a one-year membership with a charge of $50 to $80, depending on the type of membership you avail of. You can to their website at www.goldprospectors.org to know more about the organization and its by-laws.
